summer road trippin

This summer we decided to drive down to our annual Newport vacation week with the White family and make several stops along the way to give our kids a little taste of the West coast. I mean, pretty much this is where it all started for Keith and I fifteen years ago ... along the coast, road tripping with friends, falling in love along the way : ) What better way to celebrate 15 years of marriage, than to take all five of our kids back along the same roads : ) Of course it was a much different trip this time around with all of us, not quite as romantic, but just as great : ) 

The Oregon coast was breathtaking! I continued to snap pictures outside my car window pretty much the entire coastal drive and couldn't stop oooohhing and ahhing! The dunes were amazing and the sand rail was quite the thrill! Especially for Drewby who was terrified and cried pretty much the entire half hour ride. poor boy, sorry drew!  For sure a major highlight was stopping at Bandon Dunes and having a family putting tournament in the rain. It was fun to have Keith show us all around the course, including the beautiful holes along the water. I'm sure it won't be too long before our boys start jumping in on Keith's annual Bandon trip.

The Redwoods were incredible and we were all impressed by the massive trees and beauty. Even though San Fran added some extra driving time it was well worth driving through the city and stopping off for a little hike up to the Golden Gate Bridge lookout.

Once we arrived at Newport we were ready to settle down for a bit and stay in one place for more than one night. We loved spending a couple days with the Weaver family and then meeting up with the White crew for the week for lots of beach time, good food, and company! We look forward to our week at Newport every year, and now that we live away from the White family, we get even more excited about spending a week with everyone in such a beautiful and fun place!
