8th Grade Promotion was a pretty big deal, Tayler had been talking about "the Promotion dress" for months! Several months before Promotion we ordered a dress on-line but unfortunately it didn't end up fitting right so we sent it back. Tays continued to search tirelessly on-line.Then a month or so before Promotion Tays, KK, and I were determined to find something Tays loved so we went on a little outing to Seattle to check out Nordstroms to find Tays the perfect dress. She wanted something simple that she could dress up with fun accessories and what not, so she chose a simple white dress. Well, that simple white dress didn't end up being so simple after all.
First, Tays wanted to add sleeves to the dress, but unfortunately sewing sleeves on this particular dress just would not have worked. We even brought the dress over to a lady in our ward who sews to get a second opinion, and sure enough sleeves just weren't meant for this dress. So then we bought a jean jacket to wear with the dress... after a week or so Tays decided that it looked way too casual. We then tried several different cardigans in an effort to create the look Tays was attempting to go for... Turned out Tays woke up the morning of Promotion and just wasn't feeling her dress and I knew just how important this was for her, SO we started from scratch and literally the day of Promotion (after all that) rushed to Target, tried on 5 more dresses and Tays finally found her Promotion dress : )
She ended up looking beautiful, in fact it wouldn't have mattered which dress she wore. As Co-President she had several speeches and introductions. She did an amazing job! We were so proud of her, such poise and confidence!
After each student accepted their certificate and walked to meet their family Tays became as emotional as I have ever seen her! The tears just kept coming... and coming! She tried hard to keep it together as she hugged friends and family but the feelings of graduating from Bayview and the emotions she felt were quite overwhelming for her! It was a special day for her, lots of fun changes coming up for Tays as she moves on up to the highschool.
